India Book Tour

11th March 2015

I’ve just returned to the UK from a gruelling book tour in India – five cities in seven days: Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Kolkata. The surprise on this occasion was Pune, where Crossword’s flagship store was packed on three levels, and for the first time in my life, I failed to finish a signing session. However, I was not let off the hook, as the manager, Aakash Gupta, sent 200 books on to Kolkata for me to sign.

I did manage to catch some of the cricket on TV during the few moments I had off, and although England were a disaster, I delighted in the success of the Indian team, who must now have a serious chance of retaining the World Cup trophy.

On returning to England, I keep nodding off to sleep around 5.00pm – 10.30pm in India – but a small price to pay for such a wonderful and worthwhile week. I hope you’ve enjoyed all the photographs I’ve shared from the tour. Finally, I want to thank my excellent team at Pan Macmillan India, backed up by a dynamic and enthusiastic approach by Crossword Bookstores.
